I picked these up this morning, the guy didn't know anything about them and nor do I, I just thought they were nice untouched pieces. I know nothing of these, any idea's of value.

the cased one does not seem to have any markings on it, perhaps I'm not looking in the right place.

Case, seems somebody tried to remove the cross from the top, is this an original case, indeed is the cross original.

Here's the other two I picked up, these are different so I'm not sure what they are. I would hazard a guess that the case one is a 1st Class and thesetwo ate 2nd class.

the pictures are a bit too large but you get the idea. These two are just encrusted in dirt, under a loup it looks like all the finish is still there. Any information is greatly appreciated, I paid $170 for all 3, did I do O.K.

Gary, You are correct, the cased example is a first class Iron Cross. The two second class crosses were made by: S. jablonski Gmbh, Posen. #128. Unmarked 1st. class awards are known. Did you check the underside of the pin? Prices vary on these but if they prove to be orig. you did well. Is the core on the EKI magnetic? Not all are! Some are brass or zinc base. Does it appear to be a three piece cross? Two frame halves and the core. (You can usually tell from the edges), again not all are. There are some one piece crosses. What I see of the case looks OK. Does the base reflect where the cross has abided for some time. If you gently try to lift the base out does it move? These were glued in but time has dried the glue, I would not force it however. If it does come loose there could be some penciled in numbers on the base and the bottom of the case. Thats a good start. I will let others pick up anything I may have missed.

Joe, Thanks for the information, The 1st class cross is magnetic, also I would say it is a 3 piece construction, there is a definate seam on the edge, the medal doesn't seem to be marked anywhere, though the case is marked 2420 then a backwards "N" and then D&B in an oval. The base is marked 2597 and a D&B in an oval. Hopethats of some help.

I would say you have an original case. My notes show prices for cased EKI awards exceeding $400.00 if you check the Ruptured Duck site you will find an example in excess of $600.00 it is maker marked and the case shows no damage.
