Hello all!
I am sure that this has been asked before but I am not finding an answer in the forum history so I will just ask.
Who is qualified to do restoation work (for an SA)?? I am looking to have a blade cleaned up (from rust, etc.) and a scabbard re-annodized. I know that this type of work is controversial but I really think that in this case it would benefit the piece.
I have not 100% committed to have the restoration done and would like to have someone who REALLY understands restoration work give me their opinion first.
I have heard that Manfred is "magical" with these pieces and have sent him an e-mail a few days ago but recieved no response. Is he still here???
Anyway, thanks for any and all info. in advance.
Johnny

Johnny,

Don Swanson of Columbia, MO. is among the best. I have this phone #573-474-8003 (This number is a couple of years old). Call only between 7:00 and 9:00 PM CST....

Well, I'm still here but I'm getting out of the restoration business. I'm just tired of all that work which no longer is a challenge. The condition of the swords and daggers is getting worse requiring more work. And work is toil and there are things I'd rather do than spending boring hours behind a sanding and polishing wheel. Thus, the magic's gone. Had to happen sooner or later.

Wow Manfred I am really sorry to hear that!
I was hoping for a little of your magic. It really is not in such bad shape... but if you have found somthing that makes you happier then I am happy for you.
Is there anyone else that you would recommend?

Lou- Thanks for the lead!

Don Swanson is excellent. I don't know if he does blade work, but he does many other types of restoration. Don's easy to talk with. If he can't do the work you seek, he may know someone who can.
