Can anyone tell me about this Mauser Pistol? My Grandfather carried it when he was in the German Army in World War I.

Thanks,

Chief

Chief,

You have a Model 1914 Mauser pocket pistol. Manufactured at Waffenfabrik Mauser in Oberndorf from 1914 through 1934. There was a transitional Mauser 1914/34 model, then that was replaced by the very similar 1934 model that was produced until it was replaced in 1940 with the completely redesigned Mauser HSc. If it has military inspection proofs it was an item of issue, if not it was private purchase.

I hope this is helpful.

Orpo,

Thank you very much. I will take another look to see if there are any military inspection proofs.

BTW, What did the WWI proofs look like?

Chief,

Military inspection proofs will consist of a crown over a Fraktur letter (could be several different ones).

M14's can get interesting with unit marks or Naval acceptance marks.
