Can anyone shed some light on this hat? From what I can tell from the talley it comes from the battleship Scharnhorst. I guess my question would be the construction, if you look at the pictures, the white top appears to be totally removable, is this normal? Were these caps constructed like this? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, the cover of the cap, either white or blue, was removeable. Does your white cover have 2 holes for the eagle insignia?
