Forgive my ignorance but could somebody tell me what the "M.K" stands for on this KS98 blade etch. I know its something obvious but rather than spend 2 hours browsing regimental sites its easier to ask here . Thanks for looking

Hello Degens, Are you sure that is M.K.? To my poor old eyes, it looks like Artl.M.R. Wild guess - Motorized Artillery Regiment?

M K could stand for Munitionskolonne der Kavallerie (Calvary)

I did speculate Mecklenburg Kavalry but was unable to find any reference so your explanation sounds plausible. I am pretty sure its a "k", thanks for the help. Will see if anything comes to light on the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, you never know

A lot of times there is some guestimation with abbreviated inscriptions. If I had to make a guess as to the meaning it would be: The munitions column (Munitionskolonne) which is often seen as a “M.K.” attached to the 7th Feld Artillerie Regiment (1st Westfälisches). FP
