Hey everyone, lets try to get a good discussion on a series of badges the are in my opinion not discussed very much GAU BADGES. While some if not most are pretty darn tough to find I think most are a very interesting and nice looking. Who or what firms made these and actually what constitutes a true gau badge. Also lets see some that some of our members have in the collection.

Sounds like the beginning of a very interesting thread fritziii! So that I don't post anything that dilutes it, are you including badges such as the Gau Munich Commemorative and/or the Trffen Braunschweig (Brunswick), or are you just thinking of Party District Commemorative badges such as the Thurigen and Essen, etc.?
As I said great thread and one I'm looking forward to following!

Well, seeing as no-one else wants to dip their toe in the water, I'll set the ball rolling with one of my Gau badges.
A female Gau Baden.....

Don, Very nice! did this one come in gold also? I think the larger version came in silver or gold but not 100% on it.

Nice Gau Munich Erich, I will have to get me one of those at some point. Just never seem to get around to it Fritziii, Thanks. Yes, the female is reported to have come in gold as well, but alas I've never seen one. Not even in a book! The male version definitly came in both. Cheers Don

Very nice pictures, I missed these being shown on Craig's site, what area were they in Erich? They are probably the best I've seen showing this in wear, they look like they are from a publication of some sort.
Cheers Don

Thank you Don, a nice looking badge and most interesting when paired with the female badge you posted earlier. You have done an admirable job finding in wear pictures to go with awards. My thanks for sharing your efforts.
I like these awards and would collect a few if I could, but the associated cost tends to leave me out in the cold.

OK, I will play. This is an interesting set of Gau Essen pieces presented as a grouping.
Here we have the metal badge, the bevo/pressed paper tinnie, and the matching bevo/paper sandwich postcard.

Don't have a lot of the Gau badges myself (although wish I did). Here is my Gau Thuringia mini stickpin.

Don Scowen,
Is the Gau Berlin badge yours?
I would highly doubt that anyone now attending this forum has either the Gau Sudetenland or the Gau Warthe badges but if per chance, I would like to see them and would love the chance to buy either of these ultra rare and elusive badges.

John,
Guilty as charged. The picture doesn't do it justice I'm afraid, it's a beauty to have in hand.

Here is my Thüringen Silber Adler and matched GPBs belonging to Pg. Artur Erich, a nobody who had problems losing his GPBs, according to party records. He was not one of the first 1000, therefore not eligible for the State Fund established to supplement the income of those original recipients having financial difficulties.
