I just had a short daydream....
I saved Bob Rodgers life by a self-less act of courage. He was trapped under a fallen beam in a burning building. I knew that I had to get in there and save him. The fire-fighters tried to hold me back but I broke loose and plunged into the inferno. Finding Bob on the 36th floor, I struggled my way to him holding my socks over my nose to keep from breathing the smoke. With super-human effort, I lifted the beam off of Bobs legs and picked him up and lowered us both out of the window. Climbing down the drain pipe, I carried him back to the ground much like mighty Joe Young did with those orphans in the 1949 movie. After the fire-fighters revived him, he repaid me by letting me buy the above M35 Luft helmet from him.

Wow, what's the story on this one? Amazing that it has obviously been stored in such optimal conditions for so long. I only wish I could age that well!

Why do you think that? I've seen a few helmets that were untouched minty looking, rarity to say the least but still they are around.

Sometimes helmet were not used for whatever reason, like the Feuerpolizei helmet I have. But for whatever reason they stayed new looking. There is sleigt differents from fake decal to real decals, where the differents can be made. Remember when our veteran raided in on Germany alot store and businesses suffered alot of plundering this stuff was then shipped back to the states, and depending on the storage from then until now that how we come up with the current condition, minty, nice, or crappy.

"Remember when our veteran raided in on Germany alot store"
I know the Veterans take some Helmets from Germany because the German People give the Helmets the US Soldiers and they become some food, but Adam after 1945 a Helmet Store here in Germany?NO.It was too Danger and was forbidden.

They did not dismantal everything as soon as the war was over it took time, and also many items were sent back befor the war ended, if the veteran found something nice he wanted he could get permission to send it back.

I will not battle it out all day but Most collectors have better things then measums. And condition all depends on how they were stored. I have gotten many leather items through vet buy and they have been nice and plyable still. If something is stored decent the leather will and should remain good along with the rest of an item. If you don't want to believe that items like this are posible you never will I doubt but I and many other have found such Item with good providents.
