Anyone out there have any experience with repairs of these? Are the "roundels" soldered in? How hard to remove? Can these be repaired? Any recomendation on who to send this to? Do you think a local silversmith might be cabable of the repair? All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Al

Nice looking dagger I can not answer your question about the repair. I can tell you 90% of collectors would not touch the dagger after a repair like this was made .Love it like it is it is a great looking dagger with a nice personalization. We tend to expect perfection in these relics but sometime you have to accept them as they are IMO.

Al, anything that you might do to this dagger would be glaringly obvious & IMO a serious detraction. Sometimes a repair can be made that will be discreet but not in this case. I agree with Tom 100% this is a nice looking piece with the bonus of a period personalisation. well done Wink

Thanks guys. Guess I'll leave it alone, unless someone here comes up with a great revelation. It's a real shame too. This dagger is nice except for the obvious problem. Attached is "the lot" I purchased from a guy that lives right across the street from me! Just happened across it. More pictures of the hunting piece are on the Houston Coates Forum. Have a good Christmas!!!!!!!!

Al:
The only thing that anybody can see on your First model Luftwaffe dagger is the engraved monogram letters initials (personalization) on the top scabbard fitting and that is what MAKES it so special. The little bit of damage (obvious problem) on the swastika is truly inconsequential. Hope this helps with your personal satisfaction.
Thanks
John

Know what? I like it as it is. I'm likely alone on this but these Denazified pieces also tell a story and I think are very collectible. Enjoy what you have. I really like it!
