I picked up this ring with another recently and wondered what you guys thought of it. The obverse has a "V", the word "Saloniki" and the date 1941. The inner band is stamped with the silver marking "800". The sides have a decorative filigree. Could this be some type of victory ring?
From a cursory check, Saloniki is Thessaloniki in Greece. I know the Germans did a lot of fighting around there in 1941, might the ring be of German origin?

Evgeniy,
Thanks for pointing yours out to me, I must have missed it when you initially posted. Yours looks to be field made and I would think rarer than mine.

The 'V' looks Allied but the Germans bailed out Mussolini there and Sepp D. and his boys accepted the surrender there..I'd say a campaign made [for a German] ring.. , G.
