Today i bought my first Eickhorn Army Dagger, and i must say i am quite pleased with it. What do you guys think ?
The man i bought it from for 350 Euro told me that his father, who was the head of the resistance in Utrecht in Holland during WOII, took it away from some high ranking Wehrmacht offical at the end of the war. The dagger has been hanging on a wall in the family home ever since. In picture number 10 you can see a twisted paperclip holding the two bands together: the original clip is missing.

The only problem with this dagger is that the orange handle is loose, and i can't unscrew the endcap. I have tried an overnight soaking in WD40, but this does not seem to work, any suggestions ?

congrats
By the way, you will enjoy this more, and the piece itself will increase in value, if you manage to get the full story from this gentleman, including copies of any of his dads relevant documentation. of course everyone here would also enjoy reading more about that:-)

There is no written documentation about the dagger, at least not that i or the son of the resistance leader know of.
I was told by Vermeulen jr. that the resistance leader for the province of Utrecht was a man called Boelaard, and his deputy, who was the leader for the city of Utrecht was named Vermeulen. At the end of the war, when Wehrmacht officials surrendered to resistance people, Vermeulen took the dagger off of the highest ranking German Wehrmacht officer in Utrecht, who's name is still unknown. The dagger hung in the family house until Vermeulen senior passed away. The son, from who i bought it, kept the dagger in some drawers because he did not want to have something with a swastika on his wall.

kwakster, PLEASE dont try anything to tighten the pommel/grip. DONT MESS AROUND! There are much too much broken grips, broken pommel threads and several other flaws that harm a dagger forever. Also soaking in WD40 can do unreversible harm to the fragile grip out of natural material! The item, and you have gotten a nice and interesting one, is 60+ years old. I would hope we all would be in such a nice condition, related/compared to condition when the dagger was manufactured, with 60+ years on our shoulders. A slightly loose handle is nothing compared to a broken grip or a broken pommel. Regards,

Thanks for the good advice Wotan, i won't try to forcefully tighten the pommel/grip. I will leave it as it is.
About the WD40, can it really hurt the Trolon grip, being that it is a kind of plastic ?
Have you got any idea of the real value by the way ?
