As I take a break from digging out from the 2 feet of snow that have buried us. I was thinking about some of the larger hauls of WWII German war booty that was brought back by US soldiers. As the USMF forum doesn't allowing that kind of posting, I thought it may be interesting to start a post here., where the German stuff is a bit more "accepted" 1st one is all the stuff that was packed into an ammo box. The second one must have come from a "Braun Haus" or a NSDAP store of some sort. What stuff do you guys have that scream "veteran bringback" ?

Great groupings Jerry. Unfortunately I haven't come accross anything except a single item from a vet. What is the maker of the helmet decals? Do you still have the groupings?

Sadly most of the stuff I have sold over the years. I kept the breast eagles on cloth, the box, and a few bits. I sell what I can to be able to keep what I want.
These represent two of the bigger hits I have had, they don't happen every year!

Nice stuff Jerry. When I moved to Florida I though I would be finding plenty. But south Fl. has been well picked over and cleaned out.I found more items when I lived in N.Y. and a lot of vets sold before coming to the land of sunshine. They even sold there snow shovels

Thanks Jerry. Unfortunately, with prices the way they are, you can't keep it all. Bill that's a nice haul also.

Nice haul! I am always surprised with what US vets brought back. My favorite "oddball" piece was a Japanese Military Horse Rectal Thermometer, brought back by a US navy Corpsman with all kinds of other Japanese medical supplies.

Mr. Jerry, Speaking of "oddball" stuff, here are 2 Japanese Cavalry saddles I just recently bought from a vet estate. They would compliment your thermometer if you're interested.

Here is my largest purchase from one veteran. He called me and said he had a couple of daggers and this is what he had laid out when I arrived. 64 items.

Great stuff guys! I was just going through some old photos, and I found one of our biggest hits ever.
He was a an US Occupation force guy, and actually collected this stuff while he was over there. ( vs. just grabbing a few things) this guy was a hoarder! he even got his wife over there! (she was BDM)
It was all piled in a footlocker when we first saw it, and almost fell over. Took us a while to get it, and it wasn't cheap but (old German women are hard to deal with, she even made do shots of Jaegermesiter at 10am before she would deal on it) but it was worth it!

Thanks G, I wish I still had it for you. At the time (1970's), I couldn't find anyone with interest in it. According to the vet's story, he found it in a house in Germany in early 1945.

Well here's my first big hit of 2009, also a couple daggers that my friend is hanging onto. It all came from a US medic that went on to serve into the 1950s. I'll post some of his stuff later.
