Not being a native speaker of German what does the inscription: FUHRER FABRIK KRUPP 1943 or "FHRER FABRIK KRUPP 1943 mean - as seen on some daggers and other supposed artifacts in idiomatic (everyday/commonplace) German? And is that something that would have been correctly used during the time of the Third Reich?
Many Thanks, FP

FUHRER FABRIK KRUPP 1943 or "FHRER FABRIK

This means indeed "Fhrer Factory"
The Krupp Concern is one of the leading steel manufact.of the 20th century.

Daggers and other artifacts with this engraving
are unknown. They are a result of pure fantasy.

A few years ago, there were same discussions in a german forum.

Hope that helps a little.

Gerd,

Thank You for your help!! Smile

I also am of the opinion that they are fakes. Fairly recently I saw one for sale by a well known U.S. dealer in German militaria. The dealer called them a KRUPP FACTORY LEADER DAGGER - and I wanted to make sure that my interpretation of the inscription was correct. Among other things, I have identified some of the original Krupp factory names. But to date, have found none that were named the Fhrer Factory or Fhrer Factory Krupp.

Best Regards, FP

Gerd,

Thank You Again!!

Yes, That is the one. Although I dont think that I have seen that particular example before. It is the one you mentioned that was discussed in Germany?

Im going out - but when I return this afternoon I will have to compare it to the others I have seen lately. And what may be considered the early version Wink with the different crossguard and blade inscription.

Best Regards, FP

Gerd.

Thank You once again for a very interesting image of a variation of the dagger!! With the example posted having the Swastika on the bottom scabbard fitting, instead of the lower body, like an example recently seen here in the U.S. It would seem that the Krupp Wink makers had a lot of time to experiment with the design and manufacture of the dagger.

Best Regards, FP

That same short-winged eagle has turn up on fake things like cigarette cases. Someone must have run off a bunch of them.

The scabbard and blade on the one cited as on Swedish ebay are those of a Communist era Bulgarian army officer's dagger.
