Hi all,

I have been meaning to get around to it for a while and I think I will this summer.

I would like to produce my own website with all my own ads, pics etc. I do not mind paying a fee as long as it's not astronomical.

In a nutshell - my own space to play around with.

I wish to show some of my items with a little background knowledge and, possibly have items for sale at some stage.

I would be more than grateful for any advice or guidance whatsoever.

Many thanks,

Davey

I am using godaddy.com as a hosting company and am pleased with their service and price strategy.
The cheapest monthly rate is $3.59 and you get 5 Gb of storage, 250 Gb transfer, 500 mailaccounts, 10 mysql databses etc...

Check it out: www.godaddy.com

Hi Davey,
I have managed to set up my own website in the last month selling German Edged weapons.
I was a complete novice when it comes to setting them up , but as Kris says , if you don't want to spend too much , get one of the basic packages that are about (I got mine through Lycos £4.99 a month) and then use one of the free web design packages to make the website. It's not as professional looking as the 'big boy' sites , but it does the job for me .I then use Adobe photoshop to create the picture galleries.
If you need any advice on basics I can help.
Other people on GDC have given me a lot of help to set it up.
Hope this helps. Ian Dale

Kris & Ian,

This is top advice and guidance and I feel like I can begin to dabble and experiment.

The costings are more than reasonable, am sure I can push to those amounts Wink

Ian, one for yourself, to get more established as I believe some member may have mentioned on a past thread about time lines or other. Why don't you advertise right here on GD, right at the top of the page? Just a thought.

Am lookin' forward to posting some stuff for others to view.

Thanks again guys, spk soon if not sooner.

Rgds,

Davey

Your site is spot-on Ian and I bet you are more than happy with that, what with assistance from kamerads right here and their advice. It's really good and am sure in time you will build on it.

Hi Davey, I need to save up a bit more cash , and get in quite a bit more stock , then I will be advertising with GDC . I think its something like $300 a year for a big advert which is very reasonable for the publicty it gets .
Best wishes with your website.
Take care Ian
