I read somewhere that these where still produced for a long time by Eickhorn after the war, this one has the stamped double oval TM. Did the post war swords have a stamped or etched TM and how does this one look to the experts, the knot appears to have been washed at some point in its career. Thanks for any opinions Smile.

My Postwar Eickhorn literature does not show the model 1312, however, they probably had the patterns for it long after the war. They probably limited their postwar production to a few popular items to maintain cost efficiency. They did list another lionhead with crossed sabers on the langet, but with a different style lionhead.
Postwar trademarks that I have seen were all etched. However, I know that after the war they used a wide variety of trademarks, not just the squirrel holding the sword. Postwar sword hilts were either polished tombak, a brass alloy, or gold plated. New gold plating would probably be difficult to age. I would like to see a photo of the trademark on your sword, from the photo posted it looks like a very nice mod 1312 from the early 1030s. The 1312 is one of my favorites due to the amount of hand detailing usually found on the hilt. Very Nice! Joe S

Your right about the detailing, check out the teeth in the last picture. Hope the TM is big enough, in my mind their is no doubt that this sword is period but its always nice to get confirmation from the more knowledgable. I would also like to try to remove the black verdigris / staining from the gilt if possible, how would you recommend giving this a go, soapy water and a cotton bud?. Your help is appreciated Smile.

Great job with the trademark photos! Not easy to do. For what its worth, there is not doubt in my mind this is a sword made in the early 30s. If you try to remove the green crud with water, make sure you do NOT get the grip wet. I have been told that cracked grips are caused in large part by the underlying wood getting wet and swelling, resulting in a cracked grip. I hope this info is usefull, enjoy the sword. Joe S

Here is a Nr 1312 I got off Gailen a number of years ago. The reason why I have held on to it is due to the sword being in mint condition.
