Let`s start off with something simple to see if it goes through. Had trouble posting lately for some reason. These small nickers can often be as decorative as some of the larger Hirshfangers. Stamped on the blade A.W.Jr with the knight with the fittings in silver. These were often given as gifts. I would date this one in the mid. 30s. Enjoy, James

James, A very nice period Mausf�nger indeed! Good examples like yours are fairly difficult to find these days. There are plenty of modern skinning knives to be found decorated with the lovely animal-head endcaps and some of the modern pieces are collectors items in their own right. I've seen a few that at first glance rival the older, pre'45 blades, in quality and materials, though, most fall short of the mark. Hope to see more pieces from your fine collection! Best! Bill
