hello
i was wondering if anyone could give me info on a great 9mm radom pistol that was captured by a US soldier during ww2. i have the original capture papers with the soldiers name but i could not find any info on him or where he served !any info would be great !!his name is ( pfc. douglas wilson )and the officer who signed the from is( C. R. Hamilton Capt. TC commanding Hq Co. 764 Th Ry Shop Bn )

How do you know the pistol is from a panzer officer?

this pistol was taken from a tank commander who was captured by US troops . and the PFC. took the officers pistol complete with two mags ! enjoy the pics

Very nice Radom pistol with capture papers. As asked above, how do you know it came from a panzer commander?

The skull pin on the holster flap was put there by the GI after this weapon and holster was captured. German military did not allow of the "personalization" of their issued equipment.

You will often see Luger and other pistol holsters with various pins on their top flaps, often from different units. It was a common practice for the GIs to decorate their booty.

Doesn't look like the hatchet job that the GI's did to the flaps with pins. Some thought went into the location and look of that single pin.

It was probably installed on this holster by a GI who really "cared" how it looked. It was not pinned there by a German soldier. You don't see issued American holsters on active military personnel with pins installed on them.

Brickie..this is why i asked..100% of the time, these pins etc were placed on by the soldiers who brought these items home..

Der Speiss would definately frown on this adornment of a holster..!

The Germans army, like most armies, did not allow adornment of issued equipment in this fashion..

...as an aside, most Radoms were issued to the police and waffen SS, and were quite popular with these units

I must agree with the guys - there is no way to know what branch of the German military this pistol was issued to.
Having said that, I must say your pistol rig is as nice as any I've seen. Top notch collection quality. Congratulations on acquiring this beauty.

I just finished talking with the person who had bought this pistol originally from the vets son. and you guys are correct. the vet had captured the pistol from a tank commander and took the officers iron cross and his two skull tabs from his uniform the skull on the holster is one of the skulls put on by the vet. the vet had put both on the holster but one had fallen off . i checked it out and yes there is a extra set of holes in the holster ! thanks agian for the great comments ! you learn something new everyday !

Now I see the other two holes. Typical GI decoration. You guys were right.

..ain't that always the way?..have to find a place for all those pin backed items, why not the holster? heh heh..
