I have 2 nice dress bayonets and would like to complete them with the appropriate knots / portepees. Both bayonets have a red felt plug at the rear bayonet slot. Would appreciate if somebody could help me! Thanks in advance!

Thanks, sdp. But I wanted to know which particular knot / portepee would be the appropriate one. I have no clue about knots and/or portepees. I was searching a few dealer websites and it seems there are hundreds of variatons. I would very much appreciate if somebody could help me which particular knot / portepee would fit to these dress bayonets.

ivbaust,
Your shorter KS98 is regulation for NCOs so properly it should have a NCO Troddel. These are not difficult to find.
Your longer KS98 is regulation for Other Ranks so it could have any of the different colored Troddeln.
Here is an example of the NCO Troddel that you need for your short KS98.

Here is an example of the enlisted Heer Troddel that would be correct for your longer KS98. You could also put a colored enlisted Luftwaffe Faustriemen (with leather strap) on it if you wished.
Grey Quaste and Band for wartime and white for peacetime.
