That photo is really something. I believe that he could be a Pioneer(black secondary waffenfarbe). This tunic would be VERY rare as this insignia configuration was only used for three months(Jan-Apr 1943). Here is one of the newer additions to my collection(as seen in my first post). These insignia were made to be easily removed from the tunic for cleaning. These tabs look to have had a hard life.
