Nats,
That's serious corrosion,I notice what seems to be grind/file marks to the top left area of the picture.Is this an original blade or perhaps a fake that had the maker mark poorly positioned.
An interesting thread.

These areas I've highlighted could be the remains of the inscription or is it just part of the corrosion?

Hi Nats, Looks like you may have made an important discovery. The lower positioning of the makers logo is a tell-tale sign. Congrats!  Where has Neal been? Anyone heard from him? -wagner-
