From the photos the sword looks ok but, there are some odd things about it. The screws on the upper scabbard fittings should be counter-sunk. The grip wire may have been replaced or is missing a strand or two. The knot does not belong on a Luft sword. When one considers all that and the dent in the scabbard and no hanger the price should be low.

Those screws are a sign this one has been screwed with. I would pass and get one I was dead sure of. There are repros that look very close to that one that sell for about $150.00 or so. Except for the blade markings, I don't like any of it. The leather looks almost too new, like a repro would. Study on this one HARD before you decide. It may be good, but as Dale said, it better be not expensive.

Good luck!

Mark

I think it''s a good blade with a repro scabbard, and poor fittings.

I wont go for this poor thing

I think you guys are right. The fittings and scabbard may very well be repro. I would love to see better photos.

I’m in agreement with the earlier comments. A Spanish (?) hilt and scabbard coupled with what appears to be an original blade. The Spanish versions using an gold/orange lacquer to simulate the gold anodized ‘sunwheels’ used on originals. The lacquer flakes off quite easily exposing bare metal.

Probably worth a slight amount more than a complete Spanish replica. But think that it’s much better to wait for something that is completely original. FP
