Ryan, I know Prym pieces were on smocks, equipment straps etc.I have seen them on the 'Russian front' lamb undercoats..
They were available during the period so there is no reason why they could have been on tunics/coats..,G.

Here's a shot of a Prym from an FJ helmet strap. They were also common on the leather coats you inquired about also.

Thanks Robert and Dave. Dave if the snaps are marked Prym is it a good chance that they are wartime as opposed to the Orignial Pyrm which are, as you state postwar? Thanks and cheers, Ryan

Ryan...yes...if they are PRYM there is a better chance they are wartime.I am suprised so few replies to this.ORIGINAL PRYM snaps(thats what I have seen) are post-war....I have those on a jacket I bought as an "original period Luftwaffe piece" years ago Frown. My first inclination when I saw the piece was ..."Hhhmmmm...Original Prym....nothing that says "original" is actually original"....but I pulled the trigger anyway. Roll EyesI believe but I am not sure that there may be a PRYM w/ number that is post war also....but I cant be sure of that.Just something I seem to remember reading or hearing. The Luftwaffe collectors know this for sure...I am sure...PRYMs are the most common snaps found on Luftwaffe pieces. As far as I know and have seen.I will see if I can dig up some more info then I will post.

Hi Dave I appreciate your reply. The 2 snaps on my grey leather coat are identical to yours posted. Although it has artillery boards I guess that it originally could have been a Luft coat? It has a label inside with Deutsche Leder and Ges. Gesche. Thanks and cheers, Ryan
