I wish Donald Abenheim and Klaushund were still here. They would really be able to help you.But based on what I see and my experience I do would not want this one the sweatband does not look like anything Ive encountered. My opinion however on these is unfortunately not something to place bets on.

I don't like the whole shape & inliner from this Neuwieder Schirmuetze. I just wonder why I cannot find this maker mark in the Wilkins book but it is a legit visor maker company.

Hello John
What I'm worried of is the piping , if it is panzer pink or carmine red of Polizei. I asked for more pictures of the piping so we will see.

It does appear to be a darker color than Panzer pink. The cap wool is also a greener color than feldgrau.

The cap has been completely reassembled. Look at the lining at the front of the cap. In addition to a couple of uncomfortable features the last picture reveals the line from a previous sweatband. This tell-tale feature is often found in caps that have been rebuilt to include an original lining. There is a whole generation of fake caps that utilised genuine interiors from run of the mill hats. This cap is a fake. Probably a Janke. I don't like the bill/visor (looks plastic), the liner shows evidence of a previous sweatband at a totally different location, the color is police grey/green not ss feldgrau, the center band shows where the velvet has been stitched to the cap. Parts of it may have once been a nice fire schutz polizei cap, but today it is mearly another Frankenstein!

Here is a visor cap I own. It's a rather strange bird - private purchase late war -, but authentic in my opinion. It was also examined by John Casino some years ago and he gave his approval.

Sorry, It's not on ebay. It's on a Dutch auction site... http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php?url=http%3A//koopje...itaria/26405593.htmlAccording to the seller it had polizei insignia but when he has removed them, there were traces of SS insignia visible... According to him it could have been an early "SS Schutzpolizei visor cap"Kind regards, Gerd

Thanks for the opinions , What it is , I don't know , but it's definitly not Pz SS because I've seen it now for real and it was quite different than on the pictures .The liner was never replaced , it looks like it was on the pictures but you can't see the original zig-zag stitching on the pictures , but it is there with the other darker thread
