Because of it's under the inner liner cliped an not stiched RZM tag, this visor may be worth to be exposed in this forum. Any opinion about this unusual Erel made visor would be welcome. thank you in advance. Christian

FOR ME, THIS IS A POORLY MADE FAKE. THE CROWN PIPING IS ACTUALLY IN THE SIDE OF THE CAP, THE SEWN JOINTS ARE OOORLY DONE. THE RZM TAG IS POSITIONED INCORRECTLY AND THE INSIGNIA APPEAR TO BE FAKE. THE SHAPE IS POOR AND HAS NOT ANY RESEMBLENCE TO THE WORK FOUND IN AN EREL VISOR CAP.

Isn't there usually a sponge-like padding material behind the sweatband at the forehead area? The visor part looks original. A Frankenstein?

Pascal may be right, I did find somewhere in this forum, some times ago, another Erel RZM tag supposed to be from an original visor; The comparison of this one with the one of my visor may be of interest I think.

I concur with Bob--it is a Frankenstein cap.

Thank you Bob and Stonemind for your opinions on this item. Howewer, if a "Frankenstein Cap" means a put togheter, I don't share at all this appreciation because it doesn't resist to a direct examination. There is indeed no such evidence that the cap could have been made from different separate parts. I think also Bob's opinion about the position of the crown piping interesting but also in this case It may not determine the fact that it's not an original Erel made. Please see the position of another crown piping, from an earlier Erel made NCO visor, from the enclosed pictures. It's true that the above shown cap has no stiffener in it's piping, but this is not uncommun neither.

Maybe this will help. This is a true Erel private-purchase (non-RZM) A-SS visor for comparison:

A big red flag is the piping, which is is WAY too fuzzy. Original piping doesn't fray this badly. Compare to this early, very worn cap. Despite the overall wear, notice almost NO fraying.

One last factor - Notice how the bottom edge of the cap in this next pic tilts UPWARD from the visor toward the back. Unless the cap was stored sideways or upside down, this feature is present on many caps from sitting on a shelf for many years. This is a feature I like to see, although it's absence doesn't prove it's fake. However, I've NEVER seen this feature on a fake cap!!

Looks like there is a ghost shadow of an older skull left of the current one. I certainly don't think these are original to the cap and the patina is too new for the rest of the cap and the shape is not Erel. Just my thoughts. David
