Last one with the dagger in place. The intersting thing is this hanger is black which I suspected might be for NSKK but from the pics above showing two different colors of hfrog in wear I think it's a rank designation, just my guess from seeing the picture posted above.

Well, it's been a while since this thread was started..! Here is an SA dagger frog that I used to own nearly 30 years ago, and now, it has come my way again.

A few thoughts: nearly all the frogs that I have seen that are of this style have come from the maker 441 ( L2/441/38 etc.) They seemed to have made two types of verticals, one with a more rounded and reduced area, where the upper portion of the scabbard would rest, and a more traditional frog type with a larger, more pronounced throat area.

They also seem to have had two price points, as the frog shown by Fritziii is not marked Kernst�ck, or created from a single piece of superior leather. It is noticeably thinner than the one I possess. They all seem to have had a very light tanned appearance before they were dyed/stained, and you can really see the effect of movement by the scabbard carry ring on the rivet head.

This frog was bought indirectly from the family of a Canadian veteran, and came with an NPEA dagger inside it, long gone now ( where are you, 12232? )
These seem to be fairly pricey these days, as stated, and I would consider them to be among the most rare of SA accoutrements, certainly more scarce than a comparable SS vertical of which there are thousands.

Btw, the SA man carrying the dagger at the party rally, closest to the camera, is a pioneer, as evidenced by the pick axe that his dagger is resting on. Bi piped collars and caps would make this photo early ('33-'34-'35 frame) depending on when the bi-coloured piping was phased out.
