Richard, I'm not sure you will get much more than comparitive pictures and well meant opinions on these medals.
These are medals that should be looked at in depth. I have one of each so can not cross compare from my collection. Will get around to posting some images soon.
I see no differences between your 1 Oct. 1938 medal and mine.
Wonder how many makers of these there were?

It may take me a few days to get mine posted. In the mean time please post examples if you have them. Let us attempt to show as many different variations as we can.

Kevin, Raymond, thanks for posting your examples.
Richard, I have tried every which way to scan my example and the results are bad. The best I can do is post a poor close up of some of the lettering on mine.
Note the slant to the "G" on my example. --dj--Joe

I wont even attempt the 1 Oct. 1938 medal.
I had better results with the 13 MRZ 1938 medal.

I don't know how much it helps to show this medal but it is one of the Flower Wars medals, and I have zero doubts about its originality. Can not claim that about my other two. --dj--Joe Overall reverse image.

Out of 32,000 medals the same die was not use. These dies are hand made. Some other person may have done them.So some may have deferent letters.I have seen more with the normel G.On here.we do not know if they were cold press or hot press.Cold is when the blank is put on the press.hot the blank is heated.I think it is real,So I will keep it.The ribbon does not glow.

I feel the debate over the Memel medals will continue for a time. Agreed, it stands to reason there was more than one maker of the Anschluss medals so differences will be seen. The trick is which differences to look for. My Memel example is an accepted style, go figure. Other styles would be correct also. Kevin, I've not seen your examples characteristics before. What does yours measure? My example is 32mm. wide, almost 3mm. thick at the rim. I have no scales to weigh it. --dj--Joe

Joe, Mine is 33mm in diameter. I used a micrometer to measure thickness. It's 0.093 inches thick. I think that's 2.4mm
I bought this cased medal from Jack Angolia when we was liquidating his German collection around 1998. I used to live near him in. His collection was mind numbing.

Tom, It turns out I only have two photos (not 3 as I had indicated). You wouldn't happen to know of the Dugout Militaria shop in Mt. Prospect would you?

I traded for this Austrian Anchluss example to study it. It is also a 33mm. x 2.5 'or so' mm. size. I have seen this style before and it is not well accepted. It is tombac base with a silver finish. Bird head is somewhat ugly there are many differences when compared with other examples. Let's see if we can get a discussion going and share any and all examples of the Flower Wars medals here. --dj--Joe Obverse.

I'll admit it's an ugly example, not quite as bad as my scan portrays. I can't prove it's good but I haven't found proof it's bad either. It's not a current fake offering that I can find. Check out this example of mine. it does not conform to other examples either. --dj--Joe
