Dutchman. It is usually the glow that makes people run away from these fast although there are some that think the germans did use synthetic cloth towards the end of the war but maybe we will never know. Ron said he bought bundles of armbands direct form a vet and he said they glowed so I would not doubts Rons word. Also I have heard of original armands that have been washed and the chemicals in the soap make them glow. SSman

I AGREE THAT SOME PERIOD MATERIAL CAN HAVE SOME GLOW. THIS IS AN EXCEPTION AND NOT THE RULE. HOWEVER, ANY PERIOD PIECE SHOULD NOT GLOW LIKE A NEON LITE. THE BEST TEST IS TO BUY A NEW WHITE UNDERSHIRT AND COMPARE THE GLOW ON THE ITEM AGAINST THE SHIRT. AS TO THIS PACTICULAR ARMBAND, THE SQUARE PATTERN IS NOT A KNOWN PERIOD PATTERN EXCEPT FOR HJ, WHICH ALSO WOULD HAVE AN INTERMEIDATE HORIZONTAL WHITE BAND IN THE CENTER.

Bob is of course right.
Glow or no, that band with the square doesn't look like and III Reich design. The diamond is not square like a HJ band, and not tall enough for a Studentenbund band like the one in the top right. Besides, in both of those bands, the extra white stripes go under the diamond, so it can't be an "unfinished" version.
I'd be curious to see what the ink stamp says. I can't make it out - all I can read is "Ortsgruppe". I suspect it is there to add credibility to a bad armband.
The rest look nice to me, and the real Studentenbund band is hard to find.
Cheers,
