Hey gang. I still need to take some decent pics. I just acquired my first Japanese helmet! I'd been itching to get one for a while and I'm quite happy with this one! The liner is named - I'll post a pic.
Many thanks to Paul M. for helping me decipher the Kanji. The first symbol (from left to right) means "soldier" and the next two are his last name: Ueda.
Here's where I need some more help....Paul coudn't figure out the last symbol - far right. We assume it's his first, or given name.

Anyone have a clue? Your help would be much appreciated.
More pics will follow - when it's light outside. Here are the markings on the liner as well as the kanji on the back of the helmet. It's hard to get the stamped markings to show but they are there too. Also a quickie shot of where the helmet sits in the corner of my study - with my 2 ww2 katanas and a much earlier tanto.

Cheers!

Rob

Where she is now residing - with my two swords and tanto...I also have a prayer flag on the way. Haven't figured out how to display that one yet! Wink

Very nice example Rob!! Sorry I don't read Japanese! I will say that the army helmets with hand written kanji rarely are anything more interesting than name of owner/s.

Nice example and good looking display. I will have my wife take a look at the Kanji tonight when she gets home. Thanks for posting.

Great setup! I just added a Japanese helmet to the collection and thinking of adding a nice NCO sword. These really do display nice!
