These old pictures are great. What a shot he must have been. With the name, location, date and award, you might be able to trace him.

He looks like a kind, understanding type of fellow who had a lot of tollerance (sp?) for diverse points of view. Big GrinBig Grin

I wonder if he was in WWI and what his job was.

Zorro,

If the German Army was anything like most armies, he probably showed up and a said he blow the wings off a horsefly at 500 meters.

They then assigned him as a cook's mate or perhaps a horsheshoe checker in the Prussian Vet Corps.

zorro,

I believe this target was one of his awards given to him for winning and since he won the event that year, the chain was passed to him from the previous Konig. He was the Schutzen Konig for one year until the next event and if he didn't win the chain would pass to the next Schutzen Konig. All the Schutzen Konigs would have their name engraved on a plaque and attached to the chain. A very big deal in a clubs history. If for sell let me know. Best!

Yes I am sure you are right, that is the way it was. A very big deal, then, and now. But now, the big deal is, how much money does one have to spend on stuff.
The more you spend and have, the bigger deal you are. Kind of sad, but true.
That award is very impressive.
