Would like opinions on this if possible please. Apparently I gathered from a prior post that "There exist quite good repros of the RZM M7-2(Voos) 1938 HJ knife." Photos attached, scabbard is repainted, has cotton liner, is magnetic, no lip, brown snap, rivet on front. Knife, magnetic blade, handle not magnetic, some flaking of the chrome. I've been trying to sell it and I guess some are erring on the cautious side with the crooked RZM etc. Thank You, ESU

Thx Scott, I had mentioned the scabbard is defintely repainted. Will that drastically impact selling it? I was asking $225 incl shipping, I didnt think that was too high. Cory

Cory,
The fact the piece is an RZM would definitely affect the piece's desireablilty & price. That said, I agree with Sweezz that you'll have takers at $225.

RZM's normally don't bring the price that the earlier maker's marked HJ's do.

Cory,
Your knife is fine, I see nothing to worry about. Also the copies of this one bear the motto, unlike yours.
Your asking price is also correct, the only reason why it did not sell so far must be slow market.
These late Voos knifes also have often quite crudely closed rivest, which also makes some collectors doubt about the originality.
Here are a couple of pictures of an identical Voos 1938 HJ knife without motto.
Best greetings,
Herman

Herman i bet you have the best hj knife collection in europe Cory rzm marked only hjs without the motto make the least money. if it was an early hj with motto or a transitional period hj with dual stamps & motto you are talking a good bit more $$$$......Best Scott.

Cory, A lot of collectors collect by maker logos which predated the RZM marked pieces. RZM pieces were later in production & reflected this in the quality of their construction & parts which often show more degradation 60+ years later. As Sweezz said too, most RZM HJ pieces lack the blade motto. You'll see a general waning of interest not only in HJ knives but also with SAs & SSs. It's not that there's no market for RZM pieces but that they're not as widely sought after. That said, some RZM pieces (primarily the earlier ones) can still show quality & beauty. For a newer collector, you seem to be doing well IMO. Keep up the good work

So can an RZM piece have a motto? Or is this something else that indicates a fake? I was looking at one at a gunshow that had RZm mark M7 38, a motto but no maker mark? Cory,
There are original RZM only knifes which have the motto, the most common is the RZM M7-51 (Anton Wingen Jr.) produced from 1936 to 1938. If you search the forum, you will find several posts about these knifes. RZM M7-38 (Paul Seilheimer) also produced a RZM only knife with motto, but there also exist fakes of this one, so always be carefull when you intend to buy.
Best greetings,
Herman
