As the year draws near to a close, lets look back and share what the best US items we found were. Or if by contrast, what we missed out on.
I think my best thing was a 501st Airborne grouping that came from the sister of the veteran, with Jump Jacket, photos, and other bits.
I also found a few nice PH groupings, and a few nice helmets for my collection.
I also picked up a very cool unofficial Battalion flag for the 222nd infantry.
One thing I missed is a fantastic grouping to a P-47 pilot that still lives in my neighborhood, I still may get it, but I haven't as of yet~!

I've been very fortunate and acquired many top quality German Third Reich items in 2007 but my # 1 best U.S. item was a complete Air Borne ensemble to include his jump jacket and pants, his dress uniform his Purple Heart, wings, menu, photos, log book, etc. A really nice original and untouched personal grouping which very few are left.

wow, that's a clean liner~!
The hawley I just got was named to a US Navy sailor and dated 44/45. so at some point they must have re-issued them to the navy, maybe as a secondary issue, or maybe he was a corpsman? I think they are great looking liners, poor performance, but great looks them.
Fritzii, ah yes, I remember that flag of yours!

$50.00 and the fun part was(Im embarrassed to say)I didnt realise what a Hawley liner was. Later that day a local collector buddy almost became irrational when I showed it to him. Best, Bill

Funny, Same thing happened to by shop partner, as he is primarily a German collector. The guy brought in the helmet and he was like "aw, it has one of those paper liners..." he has since learned. This was another of my 2007 deals. a front seam Para helmet with some sort of tactical marking. I like helmets~!!

I'm not quite sure why but I've always had an affinity for the American Purple heart, and was fortunate enough to pick one up for a very good price, in 2007! ~ Ian

Picking out the best find of the year is sort of like favoring one child over another for me. I like 'em all.
I did like this Constabulary summer overseas cap though. Soft caps with bullion insignia are hard to find. Anyway, I like this one.

Very cool patch on that one. Those WWI tunics just had a smart look to them didn't they?

Hi Jerry, Yes they did, to bad they didn't keep the look but back then classy was the norm not just bland and mundane like they are now.
