Hi, just a neophyte question.
What's the story behind the RZM/SS folding knives?
I was given a couple across the years, one made in Taiwan, the other reportedly obtained by the owner in Germany back in 1949.
I have learned through this and other web sites that they are merely fantasy items, yet other posters claim they were made and designed to be used by pilots and parachutists, but were actually never issued, eventually finding their way out of storage after WWII was over.

What the skinny?

Best

Phake-Phantasy-Pharce ! Started appearing in the 60's. Seem to fool every new generation of collectors. Never made while Hitler was the boss. A collectible novelty knife.

Real pantograph knives were made in Germany in the 1920's. The brass one you have is a well known fantasy.

I believe all the ones in the top photo to be fantasy pieces and they seemed to make lots of different styles as shown
