Great catch, JR. I never used to appreciate those hirschfaengers, but now I'm on the road to recovery. I'm still looking for a deluxe JV dagger in mint condition - and a sucker who sells it to me cheap. Haven't found him yet but I got high hopes. The hole through the pommel nut is most likely a British military adaptation intended for attaching a lanyard.
