Don't know how I did it but the trailer hitch on my 1/16th Tiger is broken.

I'd like to replace it with a funcitonal one.
Now I'm pretty handy with my hands and can normally fix or build just about anything that doesn't need machining.
I was looking at rectangular brass tubing at my hobby store and was wondering if I could make a hitch out of that. I would remove the plastic broken plastci hitch except for the upper portion showing the two bolts. Then I would fashion a hitch similar to the one in the attached pic and bolt it to the underside of the hull.
But I don't know if that would be strong enough. Would I also need a portion at the top to secure it to the upper portion of the hull?
Anyone have any other ideas?

I think this would probably be stronger... In case I ever have to tow a captured or broken down Sherman.
