here's a short sword I don't recall seeing before, which I guess is european, maybe 1840s-1870s...
with the rounded (unmarked) nickel blade and sawteeth, I thought medic (cut branches for splints, etc.) or combat engineers. I hope someone can say I've struck the jackpot, of course!
help much appreciated.

I have something similar with an indentical scabbard, sawtooth blade & rounded blade tip although my crossguard is different. I've been told it's a late 19th century Feuerwehr sidearm. Mine is a very heavy piece that was obviously a service tool from the wear & damage on it. I don't believe they are worth a great deal & there isn't much interest in them. FYI, Lakeside Trader has one on his site in the $400 range.

thanks so much - well for $150 I can't be going too far wrong...
would be a good item to go with those feuerwehr leather helms you see sometimes; people actually collect them tho why, is to me a mystery...
