John,
Condition aside, this is a rare pattern & a very nice addition to your Pack horde. I mean, there can't have been very many of them made so it seems to be one of those situations where rarity trumps condition. Great looking detail to those 88's!

I had this bayo checked out by a couple of people who know this etch and they gave me thumbs up on it before I bought it. Plus it comes from someone who knows his stuff.
It could be my picture taking that is to blame for some of the differences. I, at first, was concerned that the letter widths were not the same as what was pictured in Wayne's book.

Hello John, First, I say you have a fantastic collection, I am envious. I do not say it is a copy but it is not the same etch as in Wayens book.motivet are etched into the blade and not on the subject, see photos and read text in Wayens book. Perhaps they've made 2 different versions!? I have one similar to that in wayens book, got it from an old boy in Wustrow. It surprised me that within about 1-2 years I have seen the virson 5-6 times? and I have collected for over 30 years and have never seen them before now? Perhaps Wayen has an opinion here?
Best,Jack

I think that what you are referring to as well is that this etch has a bottom border, whereas the one in the book does not.
Let's see what, if anything, Wayne says.
