Nice looking dagger. The lower crossguard has been reversed. The "Gau" mark should be on the reverse. The scabbard has been painted. It likely was originally oxidized. Not unusual for an early dagger.

A good start Scott, but get rid of those finger prints on the blade as soon as you can, or soon you wont be able to get rid of them.............
