Robert Klaas (not "Klass" like the name is often spelled) has made quite a few HJ knifes and many variation.
If you have one, please show us!
Here is an early Klaas version:

Carlos,
Can you please tell me if the hilt of your knife is magnetic?
Who else has a Klaas HJ to show?
Best greetings,
Herman

Hello Carlos,
Here are 2 knifes like yours, they seem completely identical but the hilt differs: one is magnetic, the other one not...
There must be other Klaas HJ's in collections, show them!
Best greetings,
Herman

Carlos,
I do not recomment using simi chrome, I only sometimes use it for neutralising rust spots. Simi chrome takes away the original finish of the blade, the crossgrain, so its use must be very selective.
Seems we are the only ones posting here...
Here is a Klaas bowie blade:

I don't know if this should be in the HJ or the bayonet forum, but seeing the Klaas HJ with the bowie blade I thought I would start here.
MAKER MARK: 2 kissing cranes surrounded by + ROBERT KLAAS +, SOLINGEN
HILT: standard late (non magnetic) nickel plated HJ hilt with plastic grips, no insignia.
BLADE: nickel plated bayonet type, wide fuller style, 19.5cm (7 5/8") long, (slightly shorter than standard 20cm short bayonet blades)
SCABBARD: bayonet style, black enamel, 22.8cm (9")long
Any thoughts? I am unable to post a picture, but could email pictures if someone could upload for me.
Dan

Russ, Thank you for posting the pictures for me, especially the last minute #4. The pictures say a lot more than I could say with words.
Since it is a Klaas, I thought it might fit into this discussion.
I bought this piece between 1955 and 1960 with the frog, which if I remember correctly, has a hilt strap. I have it packed somewhere, but did not have time to dig it out. There was no Troddel. As I have listed the description and dimensions above, I will not repeat them. It has never been taken apart or tampered with - it is as it left the factory, including the scabbard paint. The grip plates, made without the insignia recess, fit the hilt perfectly. There are no marks or holes to suggest an insignia might have ever been on the grip.
It is pictured with a WKC dress bayonet and a PUMA HJ knife.
I have always thought of it as some kind of HJ bayonet, but that is only speculation. I would appreciate all questions and comments.
Dan

Hello Dan,
An unconventional piece: bayonet blade with a HJ grip (but no diamond)... Thank you for posting it here! I would be interested to see some close-ups of the grip and the rivets if possible.
Mananero,
Wow, that is sa TOP conditioned early HJ knife by KLAAS...really a super piece!
What makers are the other knifes of your collection? Could you post them in a separate treat? That would be great!
Best greetings,
Herman

Very nice examples shown here, Mananero, that piece is stunning!
Dan, send me some some in-focus close-ups and I'll post them for you. The others you sent were too blurry.

If I had a better camera you could see the graining on the klaas. Plus there is no wear on the hilt of it from the snap.
The bag one is made by 7/13. The other none bagged one is made by 7/13. That is the one with the two color button. That one I want to move. I tried to be a member but I have to pay with paypal and I hate paypal. The other is a henckels with motto. I have a early puma with motto coming my way. I have to finish off the payment. Ill probably send the last payment next week.

Herman - With Russ helping me again, I will do my best. After having this bayonet(?) for so many years, it is great that someone is interested in seeing it close-up. I am using my first digital camera and I am still learning - it's hard for an old dog to learn new tricks. Russ, I will email you.

Hope it will be Scott I know there is many variations on Klaas HJ`s. Is that why this tread is started,or is there any other things about them? I also have seen a book about HJ`s,think it was a Canadian guy written it. Maybe it was orange cover? Can anybody help me there? I want to buy one.
Regards Carlos1
