Someone in the US in lllonois has just asked me to reccomend somewhere/someone they can sell a Luger with a holster to in the US?
Any ideas? we dont get involved over here at all as the laws are very different. It was a family bring back.

Hi Mongo.
He can sell it to anyone with a firearms license.
He can go to his local gun show and offer it there.
He can post an add here as long as the buyer has a license.
I was at the Reno Gun Show Friday. Conservatively, I believe there were more than 2,000 Lugers for sale. All priced the same. None selling. My conclusion is that Lugers are currently overpriced.
but, good luck anyway.

Jim W is right, he can very easily sell it to any gun shop, probably any individual in his own state depending upon state laws, or to anyone in any state with an FFL or C&R FFL. If it's cheap enough, he can sell it to me I'll go along with Jim about them being overpriced as well. Dealers are marking them very high, but they're slow in moving. I saw several at a small local show this weekend. Common stuff with top shelf prices that didn't move.

The laws in Ilinois are more restrictive than many States and I no longer know what the situation is if this individual wants to sell it to another Illinois resident. His best bet may be to list it on Gunbroker or one of the other online auctions with NO reserve with the understanding that it must ship to someone with a Fedeeral Firearms License. As an alternative he could consign it to Rock Island Armory which is a brick and motar auction house located right in Illinois. Jim

Just offhand, I think that like California, Illinois has fairly restrictive laws. But selling to an FFL holder should not be a problem.
I also have noted a number of Lugers coming on the market lately, and usually at (IMO) high prices. I was looking at a Krieghoff Luftwaffe Luger recently. Which is a relatively scarce gun. But the guy wanted what I thought was full market price for a gun that had a lot of problems, like easily visible external pitting.
As far as I know it went home with him, along with the others he had. FP
