Hi All,
I am new to the forum and I have inherited a few pieces of german militaria.
One of the items is a set of seven hitler aquarelles done by Hoffman. The set is in good condition but has no cover or contents page.
The lithographs and the onion skins are in good condition.
They look genuine. How can I tell if they are period and do they have any value?
Thanks
Chris

Hello Chris,

If you would post some photos and show the forum what you are referring to, your chances of getting some helpful information, will increase tremendously.

Hi eagle77,

In the 1930s Hoffmann produced a set of seven prints of Hitler's aquarelles from 1914-1917. The seven onion skin covers have titles printed on them. The set is contained in portfolio hard covers and includes an index and a page of text. I know of at least two complete sets for sale in the range of $450-$600.

A later set was issued without the onion skins and this sells for about $250.

It's difficult for me to estimate what a collector would pay for your set since it lacks the index and text. Assuming your prints are in excellent condition then perhaps $300-$400.

If you are not really interested in keeping the prints, then a good place to sell them would be the For Sale Forum.

I have a set of six on Amazon at this very moment. Yes, six BUT contains seven except one of the seven is a dup of another. Must have been put out that way.

aquarelles - I have learned a new word today - Going to have to keep that one in my next time I play scrabble ,,, Tho the odds of a 10 letter word aren't all that high.
