Some SS guy completely ruined the dagger by getting his initials and "1936" put on the blade. Big Grin

hdmarley,

Thank you for the photos of the Holster. It sure is an odd or different looking piece.

Was also good to see you at the show with our short chat.

James,

I thought these things came in specially marked boxes of cereal?? Big Grin

That is one elegant and amazing unit! ... gotta run downstairs and check my boxes of cereal right now ....... Wink dang! nothing to be found. Mad

Dave - I'd agree that's a "J," on that outstanding Schüttelhöfer.

"... seek and ye shall find ..."

Thanks fellas, best!

Thanks Bill:
This is the most adorned Schuetzen rifle I have ever had the pleasure to see much less own. Pictured below is the right side of the receivers' engraving and my photography doesn't do it justice.

This Schuetzen was an put-of-the-woodwork find,as many of mine are, and acquired from a family member of the vet that brought it back after WW II. There's no real story with it and I suspect this is an example of a pick up from a pile of surrendered guns which is how many of the vets got their bringbacks. I have some additional pics I will post. The rifle was made in 1925 and is in 8.15x46R caliber. I did a chamber cast to be positive and will shoot it as soon as I round up some ammunition. The accessories case is very rare and equivelent to finding a TK ring with it's original box. Please excuse the fuzziness of these pictures as they wee shot hurridly and not under the best of conditions:

Left side of the receiver:

View showing the accessories box with extra sight and magnifier. Very rare.

Carving- Left side of stock.

Weren't 'black widow' lugers an invention of a well know U.S. gun dealer in the 60's?

"Black Widow" was a term cooked up by Ralph Shattuck,a well know Luger dealer, to "enhance" the value of plain vanilla Lugers with black grips. Even he today admits it was just a marketing ploy and not a term ever used by the Nazis.

It sure ain't like it was in the 60's, but stuff still pops up nowadays. This from late last year.
