I've had these blades for ages, don't know why I bought them, kinda hoped that I would find a dagger to fit them one day.
While they seem fine to me, other than a over polished, does anyone see any red flags with these, especially the SS Rohm which is in poor condition, the buffing didn't remove the corrosion which is quite deep in places. The etchings on both are crisp, so I don't think they were machine buffed. The Eickhorn etchings are a bit rounded, but I think the blade may have been quite badly corroded.
Any opinions would be appreciated as if they're repro they need to be dumped.
The size of the Eickhorn is 221 x 33.8mm. The 121/34 is 220 x 33mm.
Any thoughts please...

The 121/34 looks good to me though i would like to see closer shot of the motto showing the depth of the etching. That blade should fit a standard plated fitting pretty good, the tough part is finding a grip.
Other well informed SS guy's should chime in as my experience is moderate at best with SS unless it's Klaas which i have studied and owned. I cannot comment on the Rohm never owned one.

Thanks Eric. The etch seems the same depth as other SA/SS mottos, these are the best pics I can do... The Eickhorn etch seems a bit deeper than the 121/34...

The etching looks good on the 121 to me..
Still would like others to give their opnion first to be 100% sure.

Get a digital microscope on it to look at the edges to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The edges look properly etched, they are rough matching other mottos I've compared under a loupe.
I'm pretty sure the 121/34 is OK. The Eick Rohm is the one I'm really unsure about since it originally came off eBan. If it's a copy it's pretty good, including the tang markings. Any other opinions, good or bad... there will be no hurt feelings here...

I do not like the look of any of the blades,the Rohm and 121/34 do not seem to have any depth.Also being made in 1934 (121/34) you need nickel fittings.I will always be leary of 120/34 121/34 188/35 period. Also just the direction they face determines originality to many collectors all else being the same. do not think RZM blades would be made that early.(Looks like I have to think for myself,I hate it when that happens

I think 120/34 and 121/34 are widely accepted as period daggers by most collectors, Wittmann accepts them but as makers unknown. I know a few collectors here have very fine examples of these...
Mine, I dunno, the etches are fairly deep, especially on the Eickhorn, but I'm still undecided... I don't have a SS by either maker, I sold my Eickhorn a while back so I have no source of comparison.

Hi Gary,
first i would see,a better close-up of the Motto or one word of the 121/34.
Tangmark looks ok.
I have my doubt's on both blades,regarding the Motto etching.
The lines of the motto-letters you shown looks to "straight".
I have attach.a few close-up's from some of my daggers.
I guess you'll see what i mean.
But is just my opinion,

When i see ,or there is an offer to me by a sole blade in good-very good condition,then at first i ask me :from where does this blade arrive ?Blades in such a good condition with much blackening in the etchings as yours without the rest dagger parts are very seldom seen .We often can see bad grips without the blade,because these are rusted and ruined!

Thanks for the opinions, much appreciated. Gerd, here's a pic of the maker mark under different light. The etches aren't quite as dark as they appear in the outdoor pics I took. The edges are not as rough as the etch you show, but compared to most of my SA's and SS's, some are more precise than others, maker variations I guess.

The closest Eickhorn motto shot I can get with this dinky camera. I have a fancy SLR digital, but don't have a macro lens for it yet...
Damn, the detail, tang foundry marks, the accuracy make it difficult to see these as repro, if they are, they are excellent copies. Thanks to all for your comments and pointers.
