Like the other no oak No 6 above, this one has the 'single scallop' front bookend. I have only seen the version with the oak leaves having the other bookends. There is a picture of an oak leaf version with this single scallop bookend in Wayne's book.

Thank you for your comments.

John

J,

Like many of us, I had to learn long ago I can't keep them all. I'm very happy it found a home with plenty of company & with someone who appreciates Pack stuff like you do.

J,

That's a horse of a different color. I'd probably sell most or all of my plain ones before that one goes.

OK Billy, it's time to rectify that situation. You've been holding out on us. After that abortive deal from a year or so, I didn't know you had found a real one.....

Denny,

That one a year ago wasn't the only one, I've had my hands on about a dozen that were tough to vet except in hand. This particular piece I held onto I've had maybe 4 or 5 years. I'm no good taking pictures of etched blades anyway Wink

To Whom It May Concern:
Ok, here's the question: "Special Order" Unit marked etched dress bayonets were NOT ordered during war time. Who would come up with this idiotic thought.....of course they were ordered during war time, perhaps not as many but still some. There are examples out there of Unit marked etched dress bayonets positively ordered during this time.

Von Ryan:

I think that I have seen one or two of these war time etches.

And, Billy, I believe that a couple of the etched fire bayos that you were talking about and which you no longer have (for good reasons), I used to have and also no longer have (for the same reasons).
