What would you use on surface rust on a WWII rifle? I was thinking brass wool and Hoppe's or Rem Oil.
If that sounds good, where can I find brass wool?

0000 brass wool, I have used breakfree clp, and it is more effective than any gun oil in my opinion. Breakfree doesn't harm the bluing either. Chris...

You're right on with the bronze wool. I'm a big CLP fan, but I think any good gun oil will work.

You can find bronze or brass wool at marine, as in boating not jarhead, stores. You can also find it at better gunshops or order it from Brownells.com. CLP is CLP Breakfree a popular gun oil and cleaner. You can also order it from Brownells as well.
