Hi !

Ive got a question.

Days ago I swapped a German trench-knife, that shows the seldom-seen double-etched blade.

Some guys think the pommel, (the beak), indicates, that this is an "Officers"-knife ... ?

This knife is not attachable, (the "catch" is a dummy), !

The grip-plates are made of wood.

Somebody can tell me more ... ?

Cheers,

R.

Reibert, While its outside my primary interests, a very good friend of mine specializes in these types of knives. The bayonets that these were originally copied from (the KS 98) were not general issue, but more for specialized units. That said - the style became very popular and many private sales trench knives had the same style (beaked) handle/grip with a wide variety of blades. With the double edge type (at least from what I have seen) being not uncommon.

Whereas I think many will agree that a good quality KS 98 bayonet with a cypher on the grip is almost certainly (or most probably) an officers private purchase (there are some fakes out there). Regards, FP

The better looking of the fighting knives,,and better quality!..
There are some that call them,,dare I say it,,SS fighting knives. Roll Eyes.

I would say any soldier would be glad to get one no matter what branch of service..
