hi all,
trying to find out what the production numbers were for the year 1943 for bym.
been trying to search on the net for a list/table of production numbers and serial number range for k98 bayonets but havent been able to locate it. I know there was a site with it sometime back but doesnt seem to be around anymore. Would anyone of it or have a link to it?
Cheers
Dan

I see, and is this numbering system unique to bym?
Also if one would like to match a frog to a bym43 is it possible to know which? From what I gather the frog are not serial match to the bayonet but I stand to be corrected.
Thanks for your help Andy and to John & BCN
Cheers
Dan

hello, You are right the bym used a unique system of numbering, the frogs were assigned from a depot, so probably not a schema with bayonets, but sometimes You could see that on 43 produced bayonets are 43 marked frogs, mainly RBNr.marked. But its not a rule.

Thanks again Andy. I noticed that some frogs have a strap with a fastner that holds the bayonet at the handle and there others without this strap. Have the ones without, lost this holding strap?
Thanks
Dan

The version with strap were used primary with mounted and technical troops, later in war for all units.

Hello, i believe the serial numbers on bayonet and scabbard looks too doubblestamped, maybe too much wine there in 1943 ??haha.

Thanks guys. Yes looks like the guy responsible for stamping had one too many of something Now to look for a frog but I'm bit concern that I might pick one where the leather is too dry. Would that be a problem? Dan

I dont personally think its a problem , it would be good to look at the overall condition of your bayonet and use that as a reference point to find a similar conditioned frog so it all matches , also be good to find a dated one to match your bayo! these days i tend to look for bayos with frogs already attached where possible, saves a lot of hassle Regards Will.

Found this on DD's but one query is, were all RBnr frogs black? Plus this one looks a little fresh when comparing it to the bayo.
Andy, Will, really appreciate your feedback.

Well here it is. Picked up the same frog D. D. Daggers to fit on the bym. Think it goes quite well. Here some pics of it. Also threw in a Zenith DH watch in the pic to complete the theme. Cheers

Nice bym43, totally original, with it's correct and specific grip screws and nuts. ! Do NOT remove the grips and keep the screws unturned as they are.
If it's '44 dated, I need it!
