That is a terrific shot. It is from Berlin--he surrendered with Weidling. They must have separated him from the Heer Generals at some point.

Another pic pulled off the AHF--they id him as Generalarzt der Polizei Emil Wrobel. That has to be one of the largest collars I have ever seen on any TR personality.

Another shot of him with a fully uniformed NSDAP member--not many party leaders surrendered in full uniform!

That photo is great! The uniform details jump right out at you and just look at all of those awards!! Wouldn't that be a dream tunic to find, although he could have used some counterweight on the right pocket! Thanks for posting!

The third photo was not taken after surrender. It was in later 1944 or early 1945 if I remember the identification. The general in the foreground is Erik v. Heimburg, Kdr. d. Schupo Berlin.

Hello,

If you look at that 3rd photo and compare the two general's collar tabs they are very different. The doctor's are a lighter color, seem to have no piping, and are huge.

Now I know lesser medical officers wore blue tabs, in some strange interpretation of regulations could this guy's tabs be cornflower blue rather than green?

Regards,

Bill, better copies I have seen of this photo confirm your observations of lack of piping and size, but the shades of b&w are consistent. Both tabs are police green. Notice the gaunt faces of both generals. What was their daily caloric intake allowed by rationing?

Unrelated, but still a terrific Polizei pic (and I cannot recall the RKT's name right now):

Stonemint,

That is Col. Bernhard Griese. He won his Knight's Cross in 1942 while commanding the 323rd Police Battalion on the Eastern Front. He later commanded SS-Police Regiment 28.

I posted this on the WAF but didn't get any feedback. Does anyone know who the police general is in the pic?

I have not had time to research this as of yet, but where does von Helldorf fit in vis a vis Gohrum and von Heimburg? It seems various references on the internet list them all as being the Chief of Police for Berlin. I assume one of them replaced Helldorf once he was executed.

BTW, did v. Helldorf actually pledge full allegiance and support to v. Stauffenberg as depicted in Valkyrie?
