I just spoke to his wife Judy. Dave passed away on April 22 after a long illness. He will be greatly missed on the forum.

Really sad news. I really liked Dave, he always took the time and effort to teach and help others in the hobby.

Horrible news. 1st hearing of Bob Johnston, now Dave.
Both had good historical perspective and both will be missed in the hobby.
So many huge losses on this forum in the last few years. Sad.

It was obvious to me that Dave had been slowing down for some time, but the hobby kept him engaged and he continued to occasionally post on the forums. He will be missed.

Such an endearing person, someone who loves to help people learn, who accepts contradictions and always asks if he was right in what he said.
A true person who became a friend through social media.
Rest in peace, my friend Dave (we will see each other again).
