Hello, I just picked up this EK2 maker marked 333 any info. on the maker? Thanks Dutchman.

The EK2 maker marked 333 have been around for years and they are regarded as fakes.

Can you tell me how to tell the difference between this EK2 and a known original?
It has an iron core a magnet sticks to the center.

The pix are posted.

- first, the manufacturer code "333" never existed and is a made up number.
- it's not frosted
- ring has no split line
- frame shows doubling defect
- damage on the 1813 date; 2nd "1" between 8 and 3 top of head
- found with EK2 bag that is glued on the left side and shows no maker
- EK2 core is only magnetic
- No 333 marked EK1 exists, only EK2 marked 333 are found

No 333 marked EK1 exists,
only EK2 marked 333 are found. My 333 is a 2nd class Iron Cross!

To clarify...the code 333 never existed and is a made up code.

In regards to EK1 and EK2 with manufacturers code, here is an example of what I mean.

EXAMPLE - In looking at code 26 BH Mayer, we find both EK1's marked "26" and EK2's ringed marked "26".
If "333" were a real code, we would expect to see both EK1's and EK2's with this marking.
Only EK2's are found marked "333".

Regardless, "333" marked EK2's are fake.
