Dear forum members,
I'm new here and a passionate ring collector. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce a gold ring (750 gold) from the Legion condor. I acquired it a few years ago from a like-minded person who discovered it on eBay.

The ring is from the Maritime Reconnaissance Troop AS. The air detachment was stationed in the Balearic Islands in Spain. Attacks on the mainland probably took place mostly at night.

I personally know of two others with the initials L.W. and B.S., and mine with Wessels! I know little about the background; it's claimed that Göring awarded them, but that's probably more of a myth. It's more likely that they were commissioned from a jeweler by the squadron members themselves!

I hope you like the ring and perhaps there's more to learn about it.

Welcome to the GDC Ring Forum and thanks for posting this interesting ring. I have seen (and own) different variants of Legion Condor rings, most with a Luftwaffe Adler on the cartouche. They often have very elaborate hand-crafting in their manufacture.

I have never seen anything resembling this pattern here and, unfortunately, I doubt that it has anything to do with the Condor Legion. It looks to me like a recently made ring. Happy to be convinced otherwise. The engraving inside looks almost brand new. Sorry!

LC rings were not awarded by Göring or anyone else. They were purchased privately as souvenirs by individuals serving in Spain during the civil war. There are a few threads here on GDC that discuss LC rings. Here are a few links if you're interested to learn more:

There you go. You live and learn. Every day is a school day with this hobby. I‘m glad my skepticism was misplaced. Now I need to find one of these beauties for myself 😃 Thanks Gaspare.

Lots of little variations with these. Here we have the 2 extreams,,HistoryMS ring, and my friend's plain ring....

They are a good quality gold and most I have seen had some kind of engraving in the band.. Most are big hunky rings so there is value even with just the gold weight!!

Anyone else have one of these beauties please feel free to post/ add on here...thanks , G.

I don't have an LC ring like this one here, sadly. However, HistoryMS's post gives me an excuse to show you my Legion Condor rings. Again! grin
