Hi, what Gau brand do you have from Johann Leupold please. Thank you very much for all the contributions.

According to the information from this forum, according to the lists that were published in previous posts, shouldn't there be a different brand on the lower guard than: Fr ; F ; Oe ? I want to buy a beautiful dagger from Johann Leupold and the brand is different. The dagger absolutely does not look like it was disassembled or in parts. Odeslat

I don't mean the manufacturer. I mean where he delivered. 😃

Provide photos of the whole dagger to see the overall fit and will decide if this dagger was assembled correctly.
the gruppe mark "Nrh" is not known to Leupold and to see the whole dagger would benefit this forum.
Regards Larry

The photo with the Nrh tag is for illustrative purposes only.

The dagger I want to buy has the "Ha" mark on it. Unfortunately, I only have this one photo. I held the dagger in my hand and it is all made correctly and everything fits perfectly. It is very nice and clean. The only thing that doesn't fit me is the "Ha".

The Fisher Quick Reference has a table listing the Gau marks observed on early SA daggers. For Johann Leupold, the observed marks were "Fr" and "Bo".

Hi, I found this table and list here on the forum. When I buy a dagger, I use it. It's the first thing I check on a new dagger. Of course, there are other things too. But now the question is whether to follow this and rely on the list 100%. Can there be other brands? Thank you for your interest According to the table, Johann Leupold also has the brands "F" and "Oe".

If the dagger looks good with a nice even patina and the condition is as you like then buy it, in my opinion you should look for condition and originality first.

Gary I agree, the "gau" mark is the least I would care about when buying an early SA dagger. It's by checking the condition, fittings, patina,...etc of the SA dagger and also the typical features of the maker, that you will know if it's all original!

I think I'll go buy it. At $850 it's not too expensive.

What do you mean?, if the blade is too light? The automatic translator translates strangely. Do you mean if it is not polished enough? Otherwise the blade looks good, traces of polishing during production are visible in good light. It is not very visible from the photos.

It looks good to me, the blade looks liked it has had a good wipe off but nothing bad in my eyes. Go for it if you like it.

I don't doubt the originality. I'm sure it's original. I don't like Grip. Do you want it? It's available

Yes, the blade looks over polished to me in all the photos.

Yes, I think some manufacturers polished more, some less. The cross grain on the blade that we want to see today was undesirable during the production of the blade. That is something to be aware of. But it is better than a gray stone blade. big smile.

I don't want to compete, but I'd like to take a look. This Leupold is not mine. I'm sending instructions on how to upload photos. They can't be more than 300kB
